The Kaiser Chiefs are my favourite band because they are so original. The Arctic Monkeys album is growing on me but Employment was brilliant from the first listen. Also, I saw Embrace in Leeds with Chris Moyles and they were superb!!!!!
Carl Simms

I was at the infamous Birdwell Club gig in my home town and home village and saw the phenomenon that is now the Arctic Monkeys...Quality. Also look out nfor a band called The Palms, absolutely mint!! basically.

The music from leeds, iv seen them six times and by far the best band iv ever seen, very underated!
Pulp
The quintessential britpop band of the 90's. Great music, brialliant lyrics and the greatest pair of specs since Michael Caine

Arctic Monkeys are so sound!! i went to see them last year in a sweaty little club in sheffield and they were amazing!! being from South Yorkshire meself i can relate to the witty "so south yorkshire" lyrics and its great!
Chris Paston
Although I love Arctic Monkeys dearly and have done since early last year, I'm afraid they've still got a way to go before they eclipse the mighty Def Leopard.... of course I jest. However, they have got a way to go before they produce the catalogue of work that was created by Pulp. So, Pulp gets my vote (I expect that in the next decade, bands such as Arctic Monkeys, Milburn, Little Man Tate, Bromheads Jacket and Reverand the Makers will all challenge Pulps' position as top dogs of Yorkshire)

!Forward Russia! are the perfect combination of Soviet propaganda and Northern madness.
Bob Carver
Beautiful South - Never make a bad record!!!!!
Hazel
Kaiser Chiefs all the way, they produce great music which is original and they come from Leeds!!!!!
Anil
Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Embrace
Let it Rock
Sheffield = RAWK city Def Leppard!!!
Sarah
Kaiser Chiefs and The Cribs. They have a British vibe to them and produce great songs.
Kate Hall
Def Leppard, one of the greatest Rock Bands of all time to come from Sheffield that are still around today after nearly 30 years, surviving numerous tradegies and setbacks in their career.
Trojan Monkey
Artic Monkies. Bought the album last week and it's the best album I've bought since Definitely Maybe. They will be huge.
Daybreak
Arctic Monkeys are quite brilliant it has to9 be said, but I caught them at a gig in Sheffield at the Leadmill, and they were great. However a band on the bill called DAybreak, outshone them ........ why oh why has someone not picked up on them?
Ashley!!
embrace - all i can say is the most under-rated band in the world, they are just awesome!! seen them live last year an they were absolutely brilliant, cant wait for the new album
Arctic Monkeys
They are the best band since Oasis, they beat off the kaisers and all other bands from the uk because of their effortlessly fantastic lyrics and great tunes.
lizzie
Sheffield is a gr8 city and i love the artic monkeys, definately the most amazing band of the moment!
Kaiser Chiefs
They just rock and sound original!
Jo Bradley
Artic Monkeys - down to earth, real, funky, original and Northern!
Sian Caulfield
It may seem and is most probably one of the most obvious answers, but Arctic Monkeys get my vote all the way! Since hearing of them last April (05) I've just fallen in love with this band. Their music may not be complicated but the simplicity of it all works so well, along with the ingenius lyrics. Anyone lucky enough to have been to one of their gigs will know how electric the atmosphere is. They're the kind of gigs where you don't care if you get battered around and come out ringing with sweat because you know that's a very special thing you just saw. In a few years time these guys are gonna be on around the world stadium tours, playing to hundreds of thousands of people and I'll still be gleaming at the fact I saw them in a small dirty club in Coventry with a few hundred people! YAY for the ARCTIC MONKEYS!!
Tom Nicholson
The cribs from wakefield quite simply best live band ever, seen them twice better than the chiefs there just fantastic and really really funny! x
