Great Brits - Northern Ireland

Ash

To celebrate this week's Brit Awards, we're giving you five days of British music on Radio 1.

We want you to tell us about your favourite British acts - and we're doing it by region.

Pauline
Ash rock! Burn Baby Burn ;o) x

Lorri Dee
Ash all the way for me. Surely they must be one of the hardest working rockers of our generation.

ASH
Ash by far. They are always constistent with their music and have never failed to provide great album. Topped by the fact they are great live. Snow Patrol are also fantastic and not forgeting The Undertones who have provide us with one of the greatest songs of all time.

Mark
I reckon Ash are the best band, with some awesome classics that pull me right back into the mid 90's!Girl from Mars, Burn Baby Burn, Kung Fu and Sometimes to name but a few. First band I ever saw!!Norn Iron Style!!!

Curtis
Anyone remember the Adventures. excellent band and still playing live occasionally at the Empire. Should have been much bigger than they were.

Conor
SNOW PATROL are complete legends and are without the best ever

Nic
I saw Snow Patrol at V2001= the first band on the second stage. They blew me away and I have been a fan ever since.

Alan
The Best british band for me has to be Oasis. I seen them in the City of Manchester Stadium last summer and they we brilliant. Then I seen them again indoors this time in Belfast and they were even better. They dont get the praise they should do and should have won far more Brits than they have. They are the Best Live band around.

James
Northern Ireland's two best bands are ash who when i think of them just bring me back to One Big Weekend in Derry and the undertones from my home town of Derry but also we have produced DJ's and presenters such radio 1's very own Colin and lets not forget the walkin party FERGIE!!!!!!!!!

daryl
Stiff Little Fingers. Tracks like Alternative Ulster say it all

Dermo
Therapy?, Stiff Little Fingers and The Undertones are the only good bands to come out of here

baronimi
ash are fantastic. Free all angels is the best album ever from Northern Ireland. And the Charlotte Hatherley album ain't bad either.

kirsten
NI have had some great bands like snow patrol, with their fantastic album final straw, but lets not forget the under tones, one of radio 1 legand john peels faviortie bands, but for me the best band to hail from NI has got to be ash...

Shane Todd
Ash! Live performance on par with the cream of British bands.

Donna
Ash! They instantly take me right back to being 16 again! Too many fab songs to mention - they're the best! Tim Wheeler still rocks!

mighty gash
there are alot to choose from: undertones, ash, david holmes, therapy?, but i reackon the top boys are stiff little fingers. proper punk in a wishy washy punk world, come on boys!!

The Undertones
Well, the Undertones are just the best band EVER to come out to NI. They were punks who ACTUALLY didn't give a s***e. They sang about mars bars and girls even when everyone else was singing about the 'plight' of their part of the world. AND they give us one of the best UK singles of all time. In fact, one of the greatest songs of all time- Teenage kicks. Who cares about ash or snow patrol, teenage dreams are hard to beat.

Snowey
Snow Patrol are great, although it's a pity some journalists think they're all scottish!!!

anna
snow patrolllllllllllllll!!!! light up, light up, as if u have a choice, even if u cannot hear my voice, i'll be right beside you dear!

Andrew Francis
I think that Juliet Turner is one of the best acts to come from Northern Ireland. She needs to be played more as she is so different to any other acts out there with such a dinstinctive style and voice

Tell us about your favourite bands from Northern Ireland.
