Essential Mix Clubbers at the Telewest Arena
Updated 22 July 2001
All the wonderful people of Newcastle made the visitors to the city feel at home for the weekend. We chatted to some of the clubbers that had travelled from afar to spend the Love Weekend with Radio 1 to get their first impression of the city.

Rob from London: It's been fantastic all weekend. Newcastle's got such a good feel to it. On a Saturday night I'd usually be at Fabric to see Sasha or someone like that. I always have a good time in London but it's good to come somewhere different for a change and Newcastle hasn't let us down"

Layla and Caroline from Manchester: "Newcastle is such a top place and for anyone who's never been here all I can say is, it's not grim up North"
Chris from Manchester: "I generally tend to go to festivals, they're the best nights out you can have. I'm a big fan of Pete Tong, Darren Emerson and Sasha. But I'm here tonight to see Digweed, he's the one for me. There seems to be a totally different atmosphere in Newcastle than you'd get in other cities. It's a top city"

Katy from Lincon: "It's mad, it's just mental. The first thing you notice is that the people are so friendly. I really like it and will come back for a weekend sometime"

Steve From Nottingham: "It's a big city isn't it. Apart from Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester, I can't think of many places big enough to hold such a large event as this. Leeds pulled it off last year but I don't know who else could. From what I've seen Newcastle is a good city for the good weekend out"

Amy and Lorraine from Loftus: "Whenever we go out we want to do one thing, that's party, and we party hard. Newcastle is our kind of city"

Steve from Northampton: "It wouldn't matter who was playing here tonight, the atmosphere in Newcastle is so good that anyone could be on the decks and they'd still be going for it"

Hayley and Victoria from Leeds: "There is so much goes on down South that people don't think about what's happening up North, but it's really rocking. There's so much goes on up here that people need to get themselves up a bit more often"

Lee from Notinghamshire: "Newcastle's the place to be! Everyone I've met have made me feel really welcome, it's just a top city and a top weekend"

Kerry from Yorkshire: "This place is ace, the people are mint, there's some cool pubs, and lets just large it up for the rest of the night"
