Upgrade to a DAB digitial radio and not only do you get better sound quality but you you'll never have to retune to get Radio 1 as all stations stay on the same frequency.
You'll also get text information displayed on the radio about the programme you're listening to and the track that's being played. Nice.
Most mobile phones now allow you to listen to BBC radio. Plug in your headphones and enjoy Radio 1 whilst you're sat on the bus!
If you live in America and you want to listen to the 'world's greatest radio station' (Colin Murray) and be free of all those naff adverts then Sirius Satellite Radio (or XM) will do nicely.
Broadcasts are time delayed so whatever time zone you're listening in, you'll always be able to hear Chris Moyles as your breakfast show from 7am, or listen to Scott Mills on your way home from work. Clever, eh?!
