Steve Bird A.K.A. Mr Bird is based in Newcastle, and has been writing and recording music for the last eight years, both in bands and on his own. By 1998, when Radio 1's Sound City was held in Newcastle he was part of instrumental hip hop band 'The Beat Messengers', one of the official bands. Then in 1999 along with writing partner 'Wild Palms' he set up the 'Inside Audio' label, and released a promotional 12" as well as a compilation album of local recording artists based in Newcastle. The 12" featured the first track recorded under the name of Mr Bird as well as a track from Wild Palms and a joint collaboration under the moniker 'Freaks of Nature'.
