Michael Eavis vows to stop touts
Last updated 01 April 2003

Glastonbury - no ticket, no joy...

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis says he will fight to stop touts using the internet to sell tickets for up to £800 each.

The festival's 112 000 tickets sold out in record time after going on sale yesterday (Monday). Last year, tickets took over two months to sell out.

Already, people on Ebay are advertising them at extortionate prices - Michael says it's not on:

"We're getting on to Ebay and Ebay apparently can stop the sale of the tickets that are being offered at these extortionate prices. We do have a system of actually preventing those tickets being sold at those prices. The actual tickets won't be issued until a fortnight before the actual event you see."

The event takes place over the last weekend in June with REM and Radiohead headlining.

"When you use one of the portaloos, open the door, look straight ahead, then turn around and DO NOT look down as you go to sit down, you will regret it. Otherwise, go with no expectations and have a fantastic time, as there is only one Glastonbury festival, so have the time of your life!"
