Radio 1 Dance - Chemical Brothers

The Chemical Brothers dropped in to Seb Fontaine's show over the Glastonbury weekend to chat top him about their festival experience so far and the forthcoming 'Best Of...' album. Listen to the clip or check out the transcript below...
Do you remember much from your Glastonbury 2000 performance?
Ed: I tried to remember what it was like standing on that stage seeing all the people and, yeah, I remember bits of it but it was quite a head rush when you stepped up there.
Tom: We were the last band on and looking up on the hillside you could see all the tents and fires... it was amazing.
Talking of milestones... you've got a Greatest Hits album coming very shortly?
Tom: We prefer to call it a compilation of singles as opposed to Greatest Hits because that would be over stating it. There will be a bonus disc with a few new mixes on it of old tracks and quite a few unreleased tracks.
Ed: The main thing we've done this year is two completely brand new tracks for that album and we're going to playing them tonight.
What about remixing? Have you been doing any of those?
Ed: No, we've given that up (laughs)
Tom: I like doing remixes but we haven't been offered that many interesting ones and now we prefer working with other people who make music as opposed to being sent the parts. We've just done a track with the Flaming Lips and it was susch a good experience to work on something creatively together.
What about about other Glastonbury things? Are you going to the healing fields?
Tom: Yeah, I love it. I've already been up to the Green Fields and the Sacred Stones. It's interesting, it's such a big thing and if you stay watching the bands it just turns in to any other festival. It's all the stuff that goes on around it that makes it exciting.
How many times have you been to Glastonbury?
Ed: I think this is about the eighth time I've been.. er.. sixth, seventh or eighth!! We came together in 1993 and since then we've been coming every year except last year.
You're headlingthe Dance Tent tonight (Saturday). What have you got planned?
Ed: Well we've got these new tracks to play and that's always a big moment.. the first time you play them out to a big crowd and they react to it.
Tom: We've got an amazing acid tune to play tonight that has been built specifically for this tent at this time. We've always loved a killer acid tune at the end of the night.
Are you now here for the whole weekend? Anyone you're particularly dying to see?
Ed: Flaming Lips is the main one and then tomorrow there's bound to be some good stuff on.
