Glastonbury Questionnaire

Rob Da Bank Co-presenter of Radio 1's The Blue Room and all round king of chill Rob Da Bank was kind enough to answer a few questions on the daddy of all music festivals. Rob and Chris Coco will be live from Glastonbury on Radio 1 at 4am Saturday 29th June.

What are the first 3 words that spring to mind when you hear the word Glastonbury?
Mud, mushrooms, magic.

What are the first 3 words that spring to mind when you hear the words “Rod” and “Stewart”
Sailing, mullet, fun.

Glastonbury is still the daddy of all festivals. What makes it so different from the rest?
I could live at Glastonbury all round, its like a utopia for me where everything becomes levelled down to surviving (albeit in a sometimes luxurious way)...The feeling of freedom and release that Glatonbury instils is second to none. Michael Eavis and his crew are responsible for that.

When was your first Glastonbury? Which acts played? What do you remember about it?
1991 - The Orb played motorcycle noises for 10 minutes, i passed out, John Peel made us laugh, it was like going on holiday with 70,000 other people.

Where and when are you performing this year?
I'm playing at the Rizla Cafe on Thursday night, doing the Blue Room live with Chris Coco on Saturday morning at 4-7am and then taking over the Radio One stage with my Sunday Best crew all day Sunday!

Who are you looking forward to seeing this year?
The freaks in the Green Fields and the Glastonbury Town Brass Band..oh and The White Stripes.

Tell us about the best performance/DJ set/event from a previous year.
Rolf Harris?

Finish this sentence - “You haven’t truly experienced Glastonbury until you’ve…"
Got engaged there like I did two years ago when I dropped to one knee amidst the thrown away jacket potatoes and fag butts and proposed to my wife Josie.

Which DJ/artist would you least like to share a tent with?
DJ Sneak cos thered be no room for my pillows!

What essential item should you not go to Glastonbury without?
A hotel.

Name 5 bands that would top the bill on your ideal Glastonbury line-up.
1. Global Communication
2. Donovan
3. Kruder & Dorfmeister
4. Fleetwood Mac
5. Moldy Peaches
