Will Paul McCartney show? Will Oasis show? Will Macy Gray show? These were the questions everyone was asking on the first day of this year's Glastonbury Festival. What we do know for sure is that Macy's here, but what about the others? We'll let you know as soon as we do! At the moment we're trying to protect our Radio 1 DJs from being dragged into questionable activities in the fields. Not that we're implying anything untoward, it's just that John Peel's hands have turned orange after a random encounter with some Glasto 'artists', and he's been going on about having sent President Clinton an e-mail from the festival, so right now, anything's possible! Fortunately, all the Radio 1 DJs have made it to the festival, so tune in over the next couple of days for lots of live music and backstage banter from Glasto 2000. And if you're wondering what the weather's like right now, we're pleased to report that the mud has almost dried up. We've had sun all day, so roll on Saturday and Sunday! Check out what's been going on at the festival so far...
Hear Embrace's guide to Glastonbury with Jo Whiley. Danny and Richard give Jo the inside word on how to survive the festival, with advice on Food, Toilets Trips, Drugs, Relationships, Tent Security, and more importantly - Getting In! They also talk about their new single, and...the Happy Mondays! Hear Jo chat to the Doves The lads tell Jo how their lives have changed in the last 12 months, about playing at Glasto, and overdoing it!
Moby talks to Jo about the Glastonbury vibe, his schedule, the video he's just finished shooting, his work with Kelis; and he also spills the beans on 'Knobtouch'!
Just before an acoustic version of 'Babylon', David Gray told Jo about coming to Glastonbury as a nipper and his early memories of the festival, about playing twice this year, and about his nerves before a show! Hear their chat.
More festival shenanigans coming soon! |
