This year, Glastonbury Festival saw a huge influx of gatecrashers, so much so that the vast perimeter fence completely collapsed, leading to a year's hiatus in 2001. 2000's festival offered a lineup consisting of Chemical Brothers, Moby, Travis, Cypress Hill and David Bowie, and introduced a new forest-based dance venue called The Glade, aswell as The Leftfield, Lost Vagueness and a 100 foot high silver Pyramid Stage.

David Bowie converts me. How could I have every doubted him? The last year of Glastonbury anarchy as some take it too far and destroy the stone circle perimeter fence. Also the year I see someone a wheelchair sent over the fence on a rope followed by its owner.

Line up was great, gate crashers not so great. Witnessed a lot of violent attacks and sad to say, haven't been back since......

Lads in Nirvana T Shirts head banging when Bowie sang Man Who Sold The World. Also in the cabaret tent I realised it was impossible to pretend to be a sheep and hold my beer at the same time.

Amazing year, dry/hot, Bowie doing the most amazing set ever at Glasto. By Sunday though the site was so full due to the gatecrashers it was dangerous. Thank heavens for the superfence!

This one was scary. Tried to leave the crowd after seeing Leftfield (with a a terrible soundsystem) and couldn't leave the crowd as there were too many people - was pretty scary - agree with drencrom81 was very nasty atmosphere this year, some guy off his head tried to bite me as he was pretending to be a dog - this was also the last one I went to!

I remember Moby playing a great set on the Other stage and the crowd being shoulder to shoulder across the entire field, scary crowd to get out of. But 2000 will always belong to Bowie who was immense.

Yep this was Bowie's year…he's my main music man so this was a great year for me to bow out too. Was right at the front for Bowie and he was fantastic.
I remember the site feeling SO full. It really put me off going back. And having watched bits on tv since…I've never been enticed back.

This was some year - about as close as the UK has ever come to an Altamont style disaster. Way too many people - half a million would not be an exagerration. We were camped near the fence and they were coming over like lemmings all weekend. Some frightening crowd crushes where it was impossible to move and with Hillsborough still fresh in the memory. Having said that it was also one of my favourites. I spent all Saturday evening dancing in the new Glade stage area to Eat Static and System 7. Fantastic
