It says One
Big Sunday, but One Big Belly is the one that stands out in my mind. This
was Chris Moyles’ tour, and the first chance I really got to hang out with
Chris. Moyles, Comedy Dave, then-Producer Rhys, Melinda, John and I hopped
a flight to Newquay. Two days later, we returned to London, with Chris
claiming I was the most hungover man on the planet. Which was true.
After the show, the closest thing we managed to find to an open
club was an Australian-style beach-side bar, playing 70’s-80’s
dance music, with an over-schmoozy girl band for company. I learned
a lot on that trip - a lot about the music business being exactly
what you’d expect it to be - but the thing I didn’t expect was how
much I liked Chris and his crew. They’re a broadcasting team, but
they’re also like a family, out for a pint after the show,
discussing what the next day’s program will be like. It’s impressive
to see people work this way, but it’s also genuine. For a while
there, I wanted to be part of the Moyles Team.
