c2c, never heard them before, changed my life- especially their funked up version of the pulp fiction tune- absolutely phenomenal
good to hear some fresh dj talent... would like to hear c2c some more on the essential mix... peace
love c2c now! do thay do compilations cds or dvds or anything?
C2C was a cracker bit of turntablism, those french dudes have too much free time.
IE Merge sound was different, but showed how turntablism has evolved, even if you didnt hear much scratchin an stuff. A quility mix.
long live Techno
c2c good at what they do,but not my choice in music.....stay true to the movement.....all you suckers who want this mainsteam hip hop bull**** can turn on MTV or BET get your fill...everything now days is hip hop what a shame....
BOMBIN mixes! "absolutely FANTASTIC" i say. LOVE it.
Amazing loved this mix easy to see why they have won it 3 times incredable stuff GO ON Radio1
c2c really rocked my speakers...superb selection of tracks
i saw them yesterday night! it is bomb, a slaughter which makes you high and all to forget... bulges your head guy are to you with the paradise
the 2005's mix is my prefered showing all the openmind of hip hop
it's a good mix...
I am out of breath......
Quality with a capital Q
Love all of the essential mixes and being a DJ myself totally appreciate the quality and passion expressed by such a talented group of musicicians
Fantastic - more of the same please BBC rather than the mediocre talentless crap that seems to be kicking around and flooding our dials.
C2C's mix was awesome, well deserved champs. More like this Pete!
how could you not appreciate either of these mixes? unless you dont know what good music is...you cant not like this shit. the haters crackin on either of them are full of shit looking for an excuse to critique the best. Fuck the haters, long live HIP-HOP and TURNTABLISM...what!
Mayn, this is hot, C2C is really impressive, crazy made my day, but IE.Merge, cool moniker, skilld but not deservant of the 20th DMC accolade based entirely on his selection of tracks, didn't expect this on essential, rass!
I thought the C2C mix was hot highlights from their winning sets, they really can't br touched in regards to musical abiltiy. As for IE Merge the guy is a hot tablist but i really didnt get this set... thought it might not have even been him to be honest...
Don't know what more to say except he will get whooped next year if he comes to the DMC like that Pfel should have so won.
What the heck was that? It was like every 30 seconds another song. Though these guys have got undeniable skills and a descent track selection, unfortunately it wasn´t all about music. Rather a demonstration of their matchless dexterity as turntablists..
reference to ie merg:
if u got a label for scratching and finally scratch heads expect to get theirs at bb1 -please don´t drop a pitch-only mix like that!!!
in min 10 or so pete comes in saying "cd desks stand still today -well half way tru u just could´t tell listening to this! track selecio was ok, but was that really ie merg? could have been your around the corner...
I love the DMC Competition with all my heart because it is an opportunity for those in the turntablism community to showcase the next level of musicianship that is being developed using records & turntables. My disappointment with this EM was IE Merge. Where was his creativity & why do I feel like he wasted an opportunity to showcase what turntablism is about? Thanks to C2C for showcasing the genre & not yourselves. Big up to REAL turntablists worldwide i.e., Qbert, X-ecutioners, Mixmaster Mike, DJ Radar, and all the rest! For all those really interested in creative thinking check out DJ Radar’s Concerto for Turntable.
apsolutlie amazing and so refreshing thay kicket ass.
I was getting funkie all night and im lissning to it right now.I want them 2 get essentual mix of the year.
teribble :-)
DOPE
I think C2C is a good example of How to use turntable as a perfect instruments. just listen their horn scratchings it's awesome
I Emerge Set was good to me cause i can feel his own style from his mix sets. much closer to synth pop/rock rather than hiphop.
but his 2005 winning set was totally wack.
I can't understand how he beats DJ phel on a DMC final.
Nice one radio1, again you've chosen a genre that represents some of the finest turntable artists but we dont't hear enough of...these guys are truly amazing!!!
PS: and so is radio1 most of the time!!
As a techno junkie (Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Adam Bayer, just to name a few of my favorites)I can really appreciate a good turntablist especially after a saw Q-bert in South Carolina a few years ago. This is really impressive and thank you BBC for this show. I've become an avid listener once again. -Jason
the C2C 'mix' was not my cup of tea, but IE Merge's mix made up for it...
i enjoyed c2c's part very much. it was easy to see why they've won dmc numerous times. i was a bit disappinted with ie.merge's set. what he plays is his choice, but it was simply not what i expected. i would have liked it better if it showcased his scratching more.
both mixes were amazing i loved every moment it was mint
Just listened to the first section with the team champions 'C2C'. The mix was very tight as would be expected and I'm sure they are better to see in the flesh to get a real sense of what they are doing. But did the have to constantly remind us who they were and that they were champions evey 5 minutes??! The answer is NO. Get on with the mixing and stop shouting your name, you bunch of egotistical twats
Absolutely fantastic bit of deck work from the froggies! Very impressive stuff! Didn't sleep due to this mix, just wish I could download it!!!
I am listening to the essential mix every week. These gyes really put the mix in the essential mix this time, no wonder they won this award. Amazing ! thanks for the tracklisting. Cheers !
I have one word for lastnights mix
"AWESOME"
C2C mix was awesome !!
Brilliant!! - I have never really listened to the DMC's in any great length. And although it's not something I could listen to a lot of these guys are truely amazing at what they do!. A real breath of fresh air from Radio 1 so thank you.
Hey... I just got home... a little bit too late, but... whatever... I think a good mix is not about scratching... good skills, but not a catching mix!!! Congratulations for the championship... hope to listen to these guys live, I'm pretty sure they'll fuck with my head!!!!!
A really refreshing change from the usual diet of house 'n' trance. But why was this the first hip hop mix in eighteen months and why was it only an hour long? Does anyone agree that this is a disgraceful situation? Pete Tong and Radio 1 - shame on you.
Very interesting Selection from ie.merge. I was expecting him to do all hip hop instead he mixed some of my favorites like a pro for an hour. Well Done! |
