Best Essential Mix of 2007

Who dished out the hottest mix of the last 12 months?  It's time for you to have your say.

As you may know, voting and competitions have been suspended on Radio 1 until further notice.  So, this year, the Essential Mix of the Year will be chosen by Pete Tong and the Radio 1 Essential Mix team.

However, we would like to hear your comments about the Essential Mixes you enjoyed this year, and which Mix you'd choose as Mix of the Year. If you need a reminder, check out the archive for 2007, and then leave your comments below.

The chosen Essential Mix of the Year will be re-played in full at 4am on the morning of 31st December.

2007's been a good year for the EM, but the only 2 that really jumped out at me, was the ERIC PRYDZ & UMEK mixes, both of which were truly spellbinding, unique and had that extra something that no-one can describe but know it when they hear it. Please Pete & EM team give serious consideration to these mixes.

My favorite essential mix of the year came from Mr Fedde Le Grande, it was a kick ass show and has proven to help keep me from going insane during term exams this fall.Cheers!

John Goeltz, San Diego CA
Zabiela and Fanciulli, no doubt, no doubt.

ian, la
danny howells or justice for sure.... the justice mix kind of tapers off at the end but the first three-fourths is sickness

Benjamin Kelch, Cologne/Germany
I really liked the Essential Mix by Diplo because he knows how to combine classics with new ones and mashes it up in a very intense way. Aside from that I love his "Betty Davis Eyes" and his "You Can Call Me Al" reworks. Very great Mix also by Justice!!

red swine, vienna

Im gonna have to go with eric prydz. He tore it up and has been in fireing form all year. EM of the year imho!

Alex James ( Bromley , Kent)
Gabriel Ananda was the best mix of the year in my humble opinion. Smooth, melodic and special.

TR - Prince George, British Columbia, Canada
JUSTICE!!!! The set was amazing, so innovative, so cool! Definitely one of my favourite sets of all time...not just 2007!

Emma, Wakefield
Definitely High Contrast's Essential Mix to win this. It was so good, took you on a journey and made me feel better just for listening to it! Worked before going out, after coming home or just whilst hanging out at home.

Conor Mc Mullan, N.I
My essential mix of the year has to be Above and Beyond from Planetlove in September. I was in attendance to witness great mixing and also a compilation of unbelievable trance tunes. It was an experience not to forget watching these guys. :)

Fred from France
I loved Digitalism and Fedde le Grand... I think they were the ones to remember this year !!

John Marsh - Tunbridge Wells
Eric Prydz - From start to finish without doubt the highest quality set over the past 12 months. House at it very best - Must win it!

Mark, Belfast
Frankie Knuckles and DJ Dan did it for me, nice contrast between the two but both equally rocking. Not getting to Defmix was the probably the only disappointment in Ibiza this year. Also have to give an honourable mention to the Tony Wilson tribute and John Digweed.

Erika, Seattle, Washington, United States
It's a toss up between either Chris Lake or Eric Prydz. Eric's set sucks you in w/ his impressive mixing talent & phenominal blending of some amazing powerful tracks.Chris is probably my fav. d.j./producer package. His sets are so spontaneous; from electro, to funky, chunky, sick dirty beats. What I loved about this especially about this set was seeing (hearing) that a good portion of it consisted of new unreleased tracks, produced by either himself or co-produced. Then as the months followed, hearing all of them get released, one by one, anxiously waiting for the next, then the next!;p erika

The High Contrast mix was the "High" point of the Essential Mix calendar. Thanks guys for helping this displaced Brit listen to the music he loves from the other side of the world.

Boris @ Utrecht, The Netherlands
In my point of view Pete Tong & Armin van Buuren made the best Essential Mix. I can't say which one was better, they were both great but in very different styles; Pete Tong played more danceable tunes while Armin van Buuren made a brilliant progressive trance mix.

Andy, Stevenage
EM of the year has got to go to either the Glabal Gathering or Planet Love live broadcasts. Both brought the buzz of a live set and the crowd noise through, and the sets from Dave Guetta, PVD and Above and Beyond in particular were amazing. If i had to go for for 2 hour mix to replay it's have to be the Planet Love one as Above and Beyond and Markus Schulz complimented each other and both were full of emotion and driving beats that get the ass shaking for 2 hours!

AD, Birmingham
the Tony Wilson Essential Mix was a great tribute, mixing the Madchester and leftfield of Factory Records with the dancefloor classics of the Hacienda

Neil McNally, Middlesbrough
Lindstrom and Prins Thomas crafted a perfect EM. Its so good I still listen to it now!Closely followed by the gorgeous Sunset mix by Alex Wolfenden from the once great Cafe Mambo.

Andy Howarth (Witney, Oxfordshire)
High Contrast and Dubfire's mixes were amazing, but it has to be Eric Prydz all the way.No other DJ inspires me the way Mr Prydz does. The best thing to happen to house music in a long long time...
