Pete Tong
Essential Mix Biography

The Essential Mix, hosted by Pete Tong, is the place for two hours of non stop back to back mixing, each and every week, from the world's best DJs and dance music producers.

First broadcast on Radio 1 on 10th October 1993 the Essential Mix has brought us landmark DJ sets from the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Andrew Weatherall, Danny Rampling, Sasha, Sister Bliss, David Holmes and of course Pete Tong, as well modern day classic mixes from new DJs like Above & Beyond, James Zabeila, Eddie Haliwell and Paul Woolford.

The Essential Mix was the first British radio show to broadcast live from Ibiza, back in 1995. Since then we've beamed live sets into your living room from clubs and festivals the world over; from Skolbeats in Brazil to Passion in Coalville; from Bondi Beach in Sydney to Basics in Leeds.
