John Peel at The Coal Exchange Broadcast date: 26 Oct 2000 After Tuesday and Wednesday's residency at Clwb Ifor Bach, John Peel's contribution to One Live in Cardiff moves to the more luxurious setting of the Coal Exchange.  Liverpool's Clinic take to the stage, minus their usual surgical garb...  ...which matters not one jot as the music does the talking, with current single 'The Second Line' getting the biggest cheer.  They close with Mark and Lard favourite 'Return Of Evil Bill' and clear the stage ready for the arrival of...  PJ Harvey, playing one of her only UK shows this year to a rapturous reception.  Airing tracks from her new album 'Songs From The City Songs From The Sea' as well as a few oldies...  She returns for not one but two encores, although some thought that those boots should have had an encore of their own...  She closed the second encore with 'Dry' leaving the crowd stunned and John Peel himself proclaiming it as the highlight of One Live in Cardiff.. |
