Tonight the part of 'Idlewild' will be played by...Updated 01 Nov 2000 03:30pm
Ups and downs all day in Cardiff as much anticipated Idlewild (their T-shirts fill the streets) have to pull their gig. Crashland win Premier League promotion for the night, and as you can see from the dressing room shot, they embrace the glamour of the occasionHere's what they had to say about it all before the show...
Steve Lamacq decided to compensate the audience for the Idlewild no-show by actually buying them a drink. The hands are reaching for crisp DJ banknotes... in a brief financially motivated revival of Beatlemania. Not only the punters did well... Mo-Ho-Bish-O-Pi were kidnapped from a cafe to fill the gap in the bill... ...and they were very good. But sorry boys, not as good as Hundred Reasons... THEY ROCK!
Their show did justice to the support Steve has been giving them... fans of high-energy shape-throwing were treated to everything from the legs-akimbo riffing posture...
...to the wracked and wrecked vocal hunch...
...to which the punters responded with a world class display of ROCK GURNING...
...following which Crashland simply have to walk it like they talk it... Note the transformation from South Park kids (top of page) to guitar wielding hombres...(note: must find Welsh word for 'hombres')...
Every band rose to the occasion tonight, but our scratch exit poll (ie the bunch pictured below) awarded man-of-the-match to Hundred Reasons... if only for 3 reasons... they are MIGHTY, they RULE and the singer sits at the T-shirt stall afterwards and chats to everybody...
Hear the verdict and listen to
