The BBC Introducing Stage is about giving some of the hottest new acts from across the UK the chance to play at Radio 1's Big Weekend. We are proud to have supported so many fantastic artists over the past few years, and this year we are excited to be bringing a whole of heap of new acts to Carlisle.
Well, you only have to look at the lineup on the In New Music We Trust Stage this year to see what impact BBC Introducing can have on an artist. Pulled Apart by Horses, Wretch 32, Two Door Cinema Club, The Joy Formidable, and Everything Everything all played on our stage in the last few years, so it really is the stage to check out if you want to see the next big thing first!
Every week in 2011, BBC Introducing has been adding a brilliant track to Radio 1's daytime playlist, with DJs like Fearne Cotton, Scott Mills and Greg James giving the artist massive exposure with airplay on their shows.
So this year, the BBC Introducing stage featured acts whose tracks have been or will be in the BBC Introducing Radio 1 playlist slot. We also invited some of the finest acts from around the local area to perform.
Follow the links on the right of the page to find out more about the artists that were on our bill and to check out all the photo and video highlights!

I agree Fiona is good, but Ravenstondale isnt a festival, its merely a gathering for drug addicted hooligans who make a mess of our beautiful landscape. Its badly run. Fiona should be playing better stages than there. Solfest fair enough, the best festival in Cumbria...
