Kentucky quintet Cage The Elephant delighted festival fans across the UK in 2008 as they bounded around stages to the sound of Ain't No Rest For The Wicked and Back Against The Wall.

The Americans arrived in Carlisle refuelled and ready to repeat these antics following the release of second album Thank You, Happy Birthday.

Cage the Elephant gave the best performance of the day (well apart from the foo's of course) They are an amazing band and sound the same live as they do recorded...amazing!

As for the crowd...With events like this you get a massive mix of people who like a massive mix of music types...I got the impression that a lot of people in the tent were just keeping our of the rain!

My dancing was down to a minimum to my usual standards due to a mix of me being so toally mesmarized by the performance up on stage and desperatly needing a pee while they were on!!

overall though they were the hi-light of the day for me and I am desperate to see them live again!

I was down the front too. Poor crowd all weekend tbh. Even the Foo's pit was poor. Too many potters had turned out in their best outfit looking like they were off to Mood. Blatantly never been to a gig/festival in their lives. There was obviously a few rock fans there on Saturday, but not enough I'm afraid. Pulled Apart By Horses on Sunday was even worse. I feel most sorry for The Joy Formidable however, as they were the best act of the weekend after the Foo's but probably had one of the slimmest crowds.

I'm ashamed to be part of this crowed. They we're amazing but bloody hell i had to pile through 20+ standing/sleeping idiots to make it to the tiny moshpit. Also same problem during Foo Fighters. Radio 1 don't bother with rock next year

Thank You, Happy Birthday

A catchy US hit that’s not afraid to offend mainstream sensibilities.
