Why Head To Ayia Napa?

It's that time of year again, when Trevor Nelson, Fabio & Grooverider and the Dreem Teem swap the rain and wind of England for the sun, sea, sand and summer grooves of Ayia Napa. Since the emergence of UK Garage, the Cypriot island has become a haven for 2-step ravers, offering an alternative to the balearic house vibe of Ibiza. We spoke to some of UK Garage's finest to find out whether they'll be jetting over to the island, and what it is about Napa that makes people go booo!

"Napa review - bare chicks, Sambuca, mopeds, crashes, sunburn for people like me. The girls man, the vibe man. Like when we first got out there it was a bit more of a commercial crowd, and the London crowd started coming and things got hyped. Everybody’s out there for some raving. Just follow So Solid out there and enjoy it".

“I’m going out to Napa on the 30th of this month for the live Radio 1 thing with Trevor Nelson and I’ll be going back in August to do some DJing. Boy, if you like to party, it’s the party person’s paradise! It’s completely nuts, so don’t go there thinking you’re going to get a relaxing holiday, 'cause you’ll just come back more worn out than when you went there in the first place. The best thing is probably the sunshine, good beaches and the clubs. Take protection for the sun and the sex, and just be prepared to have sleepless nights man!”

“All we’re saying is, leave the attitude in London, go out there and you’ll have a good time. Go out there and behave yourselves because Cypriots don’t take no messing around. The heat and the girls are great in Ayia Napa and the clubs are open every day of the week with every promotion you can think of, the big ones, Sun City, Twice As Nice, everything is out there. You go out there for a week, you get everything in one week.”

“From last year’s memories of Napa, if you like Garage music there’s no other place to go. If you like good food, there’s no other place to go. If you like sun, sea and sand, there’s no other place to go. Seriously, you’ll like it, it’s a good place to go. It’s clean, the people are a laugh, the music is good, it’s happening. I was out there eight week in total”.

"I was meant to be going, but at the moment with the single ['21 Seconds'] and everything, certain man is going to be out in Napa and certain man is staying over here. I’ve never been to Napa, I’m quite disappointed I didn’t get to go man, but there’s always next year".
