Annie Nightingale
Biography

Sat 05.00-07.00

Whooo! What a fizzing box of fireworks 2006 has turned out to be in terms of your voting in the Annual Nightingale Awards. New categories, new names, new technology, new winners, new rocketing stars.

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken part and given us a time capsule of your life and views and what you've experienced, and got up to, and loved and hated in the past twelve months.

Website Of The Year There were DOZENS that you nominated, but some names kept on cropping up. Loyally a lot of people voted for Radio 1; thank you from all of us, especially Andy, Matt and Kate who run the all-important Radio 1 website. Myspace was everywhere, not surprisingly, but many others which proved ultra popular are: nuskoolbreaks.co.uk Fingerlickin' (home to one of our favourite breakbeat labels) Bebo, and Facebook.

Results
3rd - Bebo
2nd - Fingerlickin'
1st - Nuskoolbreaks.co.uk

Best internet video Oh, have I had fun checking out your nominations! Some are promotional music videos, others stuff from youtube. Most of them are highly non pc so it puts me in a difficult situation to recommend them on this BBC website, you dig?. But you and your mates will find them, no doubt.

Results
3rd - Military diving competition
2nd - Tenacious D
1st - Borat MTV …well anything with Borat in it works for you! (and me!)

Album or Compilation of the Year By throwing this so wide open the net has picked up every artist from The Fratellis, to the Foofighters, to Muse,, but among the breaks community the top five voting went like this:

Results
5th - A Skills
4th - Evil 9 Fabric
3rd - Freestylers
2nd - Krafty Kuts
1st - Stanton Warriors …congrats guys as No. 1 you hit the tape a long way out in front. It's been a great year for the Stantons!

Best Festival of the Year With no Glastonbury in 2006 (looking forward to next year's) it did open up the voting for some other festival to get a look in. and what a turn up! We had votes in for festivals as far afield as South America, California, Serbia, and Australia, but in the UK, this is how it went for the top 5

Results
5th - T in the Park
4th - Bestival
3rd - Global Gathering
2nd - Glade
1st - Leeds/Reading

Rob da Bank's Bestival in the Isle Of Wight is growing in popularity every year, and he had the Scissor Sisters to top it all off this year. For The Glade to be runner up is fantastic news. It's a comparatively small festival in the English countryside, but having played there this year, I can tell you straight that it has a fantastic atmosphere, and I would love to go back there again. Leeds/Reading is two festivals in one, very very long time established, so they racked up a lot of votes between them. |A really good line up this year, and that ongoing popularity of a festival that you know what you'll get every year. Boys wearing T-shirts bearing slogans that they wouldn't dare wear at home, for sure!!!

Annie Nightingale Show Guest Mix Of The Year Wow! So many names got your nomination. Autobots, Black Strobe, Dj Icey, Santos, LCD Soundsystem, Bassnectar, Uberzone, Kid Blue, Dirty South, Rennie Pilgrem among many more. A truly international line up, but as the winners reveal…you like it 'live'.

Results
3rd - LCD Soundsystem
2nd - Live from The Glade Festival: Rogue Element and Tom Real
1st - Plump DJs live from The Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth.

Congrats to The Plump DJs, who fearlessly spun at the top of the Spinnaker Tower, in the middle of the night, live ,amid what many listeners thought sounded like 'a very rowdy party'. Well, Portsmouth were top of the league at the time, so there was a lot to celebrate. To have Britain's top breaks DJs playing, alongside the sublime Santos, from Italy at my annual Tower Show was a real buzz. The fact that we had Radio 1 competition winners up the tower as well gave it lots of 'atmosphere', The beers might have made a difference, as well!!!

Strangest Hairstyle of the Year A chance for you to show off your powers of observation. Nominations included Andy Murray, David Beckham, and Conan O'Brien. Your top 4 went like this:

Results

Biggest Let Down Movie Of The Year Those re-makes and sequels/prequels apart from Pirates were not wildly popular. You were disappointed with Jackass 2, Final Destination 3, and Superman Returns, but your greatest let-downs were:

3rd - World Trade Center
2nd - The Devil Wears Prada
1st - Da Vinci Code

So where's Fabric? you may be saying. Well Fabric is still right there at the top, but I wanted another club, outside London, to have a crack at being the winner this year. We still love you Fabric!

Favourite artist beginning with the letter K Well you must have noticed that over the past year or so, you're no-one in music if your name doesn't begin with the letter K. So which, I asked, is your favourite? In the Annual Nightingale Awards Favourite Artist Beginning With The Letter K category, you suggested: Kanye West, Kraak and Smaak, the Kaiser Chiefs, Karen O, Kraftwerk, Kid Kenobi, The Klaxons, The Kooks, The Killers and Kylie And the katchiest of the krop?:

Anyone who wears a ballgown with trainers and speaks her mind like Lily gets my vote! Thanks for everyone who voted for me, for Lily, Kylie, and all the winners in every other category. THEY WILL BE WELL CHUFFED.

Event of the Year Whoever has been the soundtrack to your life , its good to know what has been the highlight of your year, the event that has summed it all up best. Your nominations varied from the F.A. Cup Final to The Fingerlickin' birthday party, Soulwax Weekender, Massive Attack at Wireless Festival, Halloween,The Stop The War Protest In Manchester, Eargasm. But one event overshadows all: the mammoth Manchester celebration called;

The Warehouse Project Big ups from everyone!

Worst Event Of The Year (go on, tell us!!) One wag wrote: 'filling in this form'. For someone else it was 'Tom Cruise's or any other celeb wedding'. More nominated the elsewhere winner Reading Festival. Other than that, the public humiliation that was

England out of the World Cup
