What is the 'Red Button'?
You can press the red button on your remote control anytime, while you're watching any BBC TV channel on Sky, Virgin and Freeview. You can also press red from BBC Radio stations - Freeview only.
On press the red button on your digital remote control, a menu will appear on the right hand side of the screen. From this menu you can choose to read news stories, check weather reports, sports scores and more. During certain programmes e.g. Wimbledon, Glastonbury you can press red to watch more tennis courts, or more bands. We sometimes film music sessions/gigs for Radio 1 and 2. Each gig plays on a loop on red button for about a week.
Another name for red button is interactive TV. Not everything on red button is 'truly interactive' though - sometimes it's just extra channels that you can access by pressing red.
