Tonight's the Night

A galaxy of stars are Doing Something Different for BBC Children in Need.

Join Terry Wogan, Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton for a stellar line-up of fun from 7pm on BBC One.

McFly will kick off the show, singing the official single for this year's event, Stay With Me and Do Ya. The boys are joined on the bill by a host of famous names from the worlds of music and theatre.

This includes: Take That, Girls Aloud, the Sugababes, Leon Jackson, Boyzone, the Stereophonics, Alesha Dixon, Razorlight, John Barrowman, Il Divo, Jason Donovan and Russell Watson. Joining them are Will Young and Sharleen Spiteri and there will be performances from the casts of Oliver! and Hairspray.

Other highlights will include a special edition of Strictly Come Dancing in which the show's presenters will team up with professional dancers for a live dance-off. Look out for some surprise judges!

A must-see will be the exclusive screening of the opening moments of this year's special Christmas episode of Doctor Who. David Tennant and David Morrissey star in the intriguingly titled The Next Doctor.

BBC Children in Need has also caught the eye of Life on Mars copper Gene Hunt. He's softened ever so slightly since moving down south to join Ashes to Ashes and he's got a surprise up his sleeve especially for Pudsey.

BBC Children in Need night wouldn't be the same without a musical number from Albert Square featuring the cast of EastEnders. What will they be singing? Tune in to find out. Plus, our friends from The Bill return and will perform numbers from The Blues Brothers.

More musical entertainment will come from former EastEnders star Emma Barton and former Emmerdale Roxanne Pallet. No year would be complete without a very special live performance by the BBC newsreaders.

Masterchef get in on the action with a special children's edition. The cast of Merlin are also bringing their magic to Appeal night.

There's also appeal messages from a host of celebs, including Gordon Ramsey, Colin Farrell, Stevie Wonder, Jack Black and the Osbournes.

The programme will also feature broadcasts from around the UK, as BBC presenters join their local communities to catch up with some energetic and creative fundraising exploits.

But don't just watch - donate as it's all to raise money for BBC Children in Need and continue helping disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
