Countryfile Calendar in aid of BBC Children In Need
Once again, Pudsey's good friends at BBC One's Countryfile are supporting this year's Appeal by donating money from the sales of their stunning 2010 calendar.
Countryfile viewers were asked to submit their photographs of the 'Wild and Wonderful', with a chance of their work appearing in the 2010 calendar. Amateur photographers took up the challenge and submitted photos from far and wide, with over 30,000 entrants - that's three times more than last year!
Countryfile presenter John Craven said: "This is the 11th Countryfile calendar, and all of them have been stunning - but it seems to me that, every year, the impossible happens and it gets even better."
And because of the volume of entrants this year, John said "we had to cast aside many photographs which we would have been more than proud to have taken ourselves, so high was the standard. But our mission was to find the pictures that leapt out from all the others and which would stand the test of time on our calendar. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with our final choice, and with the best of the rest which also adorn the pages."
Judging the Countryfile calendar competition were wildlife presenter/photographer Chris Packham, comedy star Jo Brand and Countryfile presenter John Craven. The photo that Countryfile viewers voted as the overall winner was Snowy Squirrel, by Cheryl Surry. You can see Cheryl's photograph and the 11 runners up here.
The Countryfile calendars are priced at £9 each, and a fantastic £4 from the sale of each calendar will go to this year's BBC Children in Need Appeal. Last year's calendar raised a record-breaking £369,000 for Pudsey, a record which the Countryfile team are hoping to break this year!
