Pennies for Pudsey

Pennies for Pudsey fills 4 lorries!

The One Show were busy bees during the 2008 BBC Children in Need Appeal by launching the 'Pennies for Pudsey' campaign. The campaign saw thousands of people up and down the country check behind their sofas, in jars and pockets to dig out all their pennies and donate them to BBC Children in Need.

There is an estimated £65 million worth of pennies unaccounted for in the UK, and Pudsey and The One Show wanted to find as many of those as they could to help disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. With the help of NatWest, RBS & Ulster Bank, we managed to raise £294,903.52! That's 10.1 million coins or 65 tonnes, which is the equivalent of 4 arctic lorries full!!

So, thank you to all those who contributed to the Pennies for Pudsey campaign, you have helped countless disadvantaged children and young people have a better quality of life. To find out more about the children you have helped, take a look at some video clips and stories from across the UK.
