Learning and Fun in School
Every year, schools across the UK get involved Doing Something Different for BBC Children in Need. We couldn't have raised the fantastic £37 million from the 2008 Appeal without your help, so thank you!
BBC Children in Need can give schools the opportunity to have one day of fun where everything is different to the usual school day. Thousands of schools up and down the country do fantastic things for BBC Children in Need, and this year we’re asking you to Do Something Different again so that we can continue to provide support to disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
Your school will have automatically received a fundraising pack, which includes a fundraising booklet packed with ideas and tips, an schools booklet containing snippets of educational content and additional materials to help with your fundraising. You can also get lots of ideas right here in our Ideas & Toolkits Section, as well as downloads such as posters to stick around the classroom.
Whilst there is so much fun to be had playing sponsored games in PE, making accessories from Pudsey bandanas in Art, making Pudsey cakes in cookery class and leaving school uniforms at home for the day, there is also lots to learn about what it means to be disadvantaged in the UK
If you would like to know more about how your money helps disadvantaged children and young people in the UK, we have plenty of learning resources for both teachers and students. Below in our Learning Zone, teachers can download lesson plans, assembly plans and activity sheets on disadvantage linked to online films to use in the classroom. Whilst in our Playground, students can complete online quizzes and download fun stuff to do to learn more about the Appeal and what disadvantage means to children and young people in the UK.
You can also get lots of ideas and tips on how to make the most of fundraising at school as well as advice and guidance on best practice when fundraising with children on how2fundraise.org.
