Get It Right

Make sure your fundraising activity goes with a swing! Follow these simple guidelines to keep your fundraising safe, legal and successful.

1.Start fundraising as soon as possible

Every penny really does make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK, so please do all you can to spread the word, plan a great activity and start raising lots.

2.Stay safe every step of the way

Have fun, but make sure your plans are sensible and safe, and that children are supervised. Always get sponsored by people you trust rather than strangers, and keep any cash you've collected secure.

3. Be sure to keep within the law

Don't collect money in the street or do house-to-house collections. If you're thinking of holding a raffle, check the rules with your local authority or the Gambling Commission first, and if your activity is on private property ask the owner's permission.

BBC Children in Need can't accept liability for your activity, so think about whether you'll need to take out insurance.

4. Remember to include every penny

Make sure you pay in all the money you receive without taking off any costs. If you're unsure, or if you're a business selling a product, call us to agree this first. And please pay in your money as soon as you can!

5. Bank it!

Please be sure you pay your money in as soon as possible so we can include your amount in this year's Appeal total. You can find the easiest way to get it to us here.
