Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) is thrilled to be helping Pudsey Bear raise money for BBC Children in Need. All across the country, Rotary Clubs have been supporting the charity in previous years by involving communities in various fundraising activities. Now, clubs are set to make 2011 their best year yet!

At the core of any Rotary activity is the drive to improve the lives of others by giving time and using their skills for all sorts of activity. Pudsey Bear will be making his way around the country to see what the clubs are getting up to. If you hear that Pudsey is making a visit to a club in your town, go along and say hi! He would love to see you and you can be sure of a warm welcome from your local Rotary club too.

Mascot madness at Horsham Nov 2011

Pudsey Bear and a variety of mascot friends took over the bandstand in Horsham to put on a party in the park for local youngsters. The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Horsham, was filled with mascot mayhem and silliness in aid of BBC Children in Need. TV presenter Dave Benson entertained the crowds. Support was provided by Horsham District Council, Horsham Markets and a number of local businesses.

RC of Fleet 02

The Rotary Club of Fleet brought Pudsey to meet his fans at Sainsbury's and raised lots of money for BBC Children in Need in the process. This little girl was very pleased to see her hero!





RC Exmoor cabaret night


The Rotary Club of Exmoor got into the swing of things with a cabaret night followed by an auction where nearly £900 was raised.





RC Bolton Lever bike ride

17 bike riders took part in a mountain biking experience on Rivington Pike, organised by the Rotary Club of Bolton Lever, to raise money. The team entered into the spirit of kids helping kids with enthusiasm and responsibility, came away mud splattered and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Hitchin Tilehouse FUnday 27th Oct

The Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse put on a very fun day where children could have their faces painted and enjoy all sorts of games including Splat the Rat and Giant Skittles. The BNC Jazz Quartet provided entertainment. All-in-all a grand day was had especially with Pudsey who really got into the swing of things.

Shawbury and mid shropshire

Pudsey Bear brought happiness to train passengers when he appeared on the Birmingham to Shrewsbury train with the Rotary Club of Shawbury and Mid Shropshire. He was on his way to a concert rehearsal at Acton Burnell’s Concord College. Students are putting on two concerts in aid of BBC Children in Need. The sight of Pudsey in his Rotary vest brought many a smile to travellers.

RC Hadleigh Castle barn dance Nov 11

The Rotary Club Of Hadleigh Castle hosted a Pudsey Bear themed barn dance to raise funds. Bunting festooned the hall together with balloons, cowboy boots stencils and a full size Pudsey bear, which set the scene for the night. The hall soon filled with eager barn dancers who were looking forward to a fun filled night, interjected with the occasional "yeeehaa!" The evening was enjoyed by everyone, and successfully raised £800.

RC of Deeside

The Rotary Club of Deeside raised more than a song with their 'pop Idol' event which offered local vocal talent a stage to shine upon. Elimination rounds narrowed the field to Jessica Thacke from Chester, Rebecca Lloyd from Saltney and Craig Horsman from Buckley. Jessica Thacke's face lit up when she was revealed as the winner. As the Rotarians counted up the money raised on the night it was clear Jessica was not the only winner, over £1,000 has been raised for BBC Children in Need.

RC of Ewell masquerade ball

The Rotary Club of Ewell had an absolutely fabulous evening of fundraising with their masquerade ball. Masks came in all varieties from the exquisite to the eccentric. Thanks to raffles and generosity of participants £1,000 was raised.


RC Stevenage


The Rotary Club of Stevenage braved the wind and rain to collect £300 from the good folks of the town. Pudsey went along to show support, having the advantage of a thick warm coat of fur!
