N.B. We offer Proms Notes as a valuable source of information associated with each Prom. In order to support our accessibility policies, for the last few years we have also made Proms Notes available in HTML format. This year, we've negotiated limited rights to reproduce facsimile images on the Proms website from each concert programme. However, whilst the regular Proms Notes are available for the duration of the Proms season, we don't have the same rights for the new facsimile images. We can only offer these facsimiles for a period of seven days after each concert has been broadcast. The agreement with the rights holders also means that the images can be 'streamed' only, and not made available for download. To ensure we comply with these restrictions, we have had to make the facsimile images available via a Flash-based player, which unfortunately we have not been able to make Screenreader accessible for this season. The rights agreements also mean we are not able to produce an accessible version of the complete facsimile for each Prom programme, such as via a downloadable pdf document. The agreements also prevent us transferring photographs and some of the extra information to other, accessible formats, such as HTML. However, as mentioned at the start, the core elements from Proms Notes are available in HTML, for the duration of the Proms season.
We will, of course, review the success of the Flash-streamed version of Proms Notes as part of our planning for next year's Proms season, and consider if advances in technology or revised rights agreements can help us to offer a version of the complete Proms Notes that is more accessible.
