What a joy it was to be present at this recital - well into my seventies I think this was one of my most memorable musical experiences ever.

If there is such a thing these days, this particular programme actually shows that an artist, in this case Angela Hewitt, is better than her records. Her quiet, patient performances were obviously a thing of love for the music with no exaggerated phrasings or sluggishness. Indeed, there was everwhere a great fleetness which this music seldom gets these days. Hopefully she will be around for good long while to bless with ever more imaginative readings of all sorts of music!

I was at the Cadogan Hall yesterday for Angela Hewitt's recital and thought it just wonderful.
