Aled Haydn Jones

A little bit about Aled

Aled presents The Surgery on Radio 1 every Sunday but he is also well known for being a producer on the Sony Award-winning Chris Moyles Show.

Aled started presenting The Surgery, which is part of BBC Switch, in 2008. Alongside regular doctors and experts who give advice and help on a range of subjects such as sexuality, depression and addiction, Aled takes calls from listeners and offers them guidance and support.

Hailing from Aberystwyth, Welsh-speaker Aled began his career presenting and producing on his local radio station. He joined Radio 1 in 1998 to work on the Radio 1 Roadshow, followed by Chris Moyles' Big Belly tour. When Chris took over the Radio 1 Breakfast Show in 2004 Aled went with him and became his Producer. Regularly taking part in on-air activity alongside the rest of the show's team, Aled has become a hit with the show's millions of listeners.

Aled has fronted a number of Radio 1 social action campaigns such as Drug Awareness Week and the Alcohol Experiment. He also hosted live Surgery discussions at Radio 1's Big Weekend in May 2009 with various celebrity guests, including JLS, N-Dubz and Alesha Dixon.

Aled has also presented social action documentaries for BBC Wales and has been a judge on The Eurovision Song Contest and on the Welsh talent show Wawffactor. He is also a regular contributor on Big Brother, earning the nickname BB Aled and was runner up on BBC 3's Celebrity Scissorhands in aid of Children In Need in 2007.

One last thing you must know about Aled is that he loves his girl bands (especially Girls Aloud!) and can't keep out of the gym for long!
