Lauren Laverne

Lauren Laverne began her career in indie band Kenickie while still at school. Following the group’s split in 1998 Lauren moved into broadcasting. In radio her highly acclaimed stint as a DJ for leading London radio station XFM was followed by a move to BBC 6Music, where she now hosts a daily show.

In 2015 Lauren curated and hosted 6 Late Night Womens Hour discussions for BBCR4 which was such a success that it has now been picked up as a monthly series. So far in 2016 she has presented another show for BBCR4 entitled “Laverne in the Willows”.

Lauren has a successful and varied on-screen career, presenting TV shows such as Transmission, The Culture Show, Style on Trial, 10 O’Clock Live and coverage from hugely highly regarded music events including Glastonbury. Lauren continues to host the Turner Prize Awards each year.

In 2010 Lauren published her first book: Candy Pop: Candy and the Broken Biscuits and has written regular columns for the Observer, Red Magazine and Grazia.

Last year (2015) Lauren co-founded The Pool, a website for “women who are too busy to browse” which includes news and comment around fashion, culture, food, music & literature.
