A beautiful landscape by Irish artist Paul Henry
In 2002, Mark moved to Sotheby’s and is now Deputy Chairman of Sotheby's Europe and Chairman of Sotheby’s Russia and the Middle East. In his 35 years in the business, he has specialised in Impressionist, 19th Century Continental and Victorian pictures. He pioneered many of the first themed sales of Scandinavian, German and Spanish pictures.
As Chairman of Sotheby’s Russia, he travels regularly to both Russia and the Ukraine, and along with the international Russian Art department, he has helped develop a strong client base in both countries.
Mark joined the Pictures team on the Antiques Roadshow in 1994. One of the most exciting pictures he hass seen in that time is a beautiful landscape by Irish artist Paul Henry. The owners were pretty happy too, when they learnt it could be extremely valuable. The painting later sold at auction for over £175,000!
