Margaret Lea is a young biographer. She is handpicked by Vida Winter to write her biography after an article she wrote about twins appeared in a small literary magazine. Margaret is at first reticent to take on the job, and questions whether Ms Winter intends to be truthful with her. However, as she begins to hear Vida’s compelling story and it resonates with her own private childhood tragedy, she finds herself becoming increasingly absorbed.
