Gail Rebuck is Chief Executive of Random House's British operations. She has held the post for over twenty years and controls the operations of the publishing house's thirty imprints. Her first job was as a production assistant for a children's publishing house. She joined Random House in 1989 and was appointed Chair and Chief Executive in 1991.

She co-launched the World Book Day charity in 1998, and was a non-executive director of BskyB from 2003-2012. She was awarded a CBE in 2000 and made a Dame in 2009.
