As a baby Mei Finegold was humming melodies in her crib. Her childhood was spent singing in local choirs and amateur musical productions. At 18, Mei got her big break and became a successful underground rock singer, performing all over Israel.

Dealing with a project of this type was different from everything I’ve done before – but for me it was all part of magic

In 2009, she entered the seventh season of Israeli talent TV programme, A Star Is Born. Right from the start, Mei's avant-garde vocals and wild performances were the talk of the show. She went on to win third place in the final.

Later Mei joined electro pop-rock group Limozina Express as their lead singer. One evening, whilst performing with the band Mei went into labour on stage and after being taken to hospital, her baby daughter was born.

Still treading the boards in musical theatre, Mei recently took home Best Supporting Actress at the annual Israeli Theatre Awards.
