At the age of 15, Michael Douglas began training as a hairdresser in Lancashire. In the mid-1990s he moved to London to teach at the Wella Academy.
Since then he has styled at all the major fashion weeks, working with supermodels and celebrities on the runway and for prestigious magazine and television shoots. An idea about street hairdressing cooked up with television producer Andy Abrahams in 2000 led to the creation of the series The Hairman and The Stylistic for Discovery UK. Recently Michael has appeared as the Street Barber for The One Show, where he roams city centres across the UK, offering members of the public a spontaneous haircut.
