About Tony Wood

Former marine Tony Wood is the chief air crewman for the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter in Sydney.

He is in charge of the safety of the winch man who dangles at the end of a wired rope.

This is a particularly tricky job when you have to work with the rocky coastline of New South Wales.

Despite being in Australia for a number of years, Tony still retains his strong cockney accent.

He loves his life in the sunshine but he isn’t keen on the red belly snakes that live around the airbase.
