Representing Norway is Carl Espen with Silent Storm

As a child, Carl was very close to his extended family who all lived altogether on a small island outside of Bergen called Osterøy. This close relationship has meant that the Norwegian entry for 2014 is quite the family affair. The song was written by Carl’s cousin Josefin Winther, a London based artist and songwriter.

The song is an intense, fragile and powerful ballad

Josefin has always thought that more people should hear Carl’s beautiful and unique voice, and in August 2013 she finally sat down and wrote a song especially for her cousin.

The result was Silent Storm. After hearing the composition, Carl fell in love with it immediately. They decided to enter into the Norwegian national selection, Melodi Grand Prix, and the rest is history.
