The Antiques Road Trip team has learned of the very sad passing of David Barby, one of daytime TV's best-loved antiques experts.
David died in hospital in Coventry on Wednesday 25 July following a short illness, with his family at his bedside.
David was a much loved figure to millions of viewers of Antiques Road Trip. He had a huge sense of fun, a charming personality, and a great knowledge of and passion for antiques.
Wendy Rattray, Creative Director, STV Productions (production team behind Antiques Roadtrip) said: "I first met David when he did the pilot episode of Antiques Road Trip three years ago. His enthusiasm, knowledge and enormous sense of fun was utterly captivating and he became a huge favourite of the teams who have worked with him over the years. We were all very shocked and saddened to hear the news that he had so suddenly passed away. He will be greatly missed but perhaps his legacy will have been his ability to make everyone in his company laugh. Thank you David".
There will be further tributes to him over the coming days and weeks but in the meantime we send our condolences and best wishes to his family and many friends at this difficult time.
