As Part of Black History Month, Vere visits a thanksgiving service called “Churches For Change” in Gloucester. Plus, Vere will be finding out about “The Race for Africa” which was a period of rapid colonization of the African continent by European powers, beginning in the 1880s. As Vere learns from local historian Rupert Mackenzie, it wouldn't have happened except for the particular economic, social, and military evolution Europe was going through.
