In 1982, agriculture minister Peter Walker launched Lymeswold cheese - the first new British cheese for 200 years, which was partly intended to deal with milk over-production.
Before Lymeswold hit the market, Dairy Crest had plenty of other ideas for dealing with the milk surplus, including making meat and cereal from milk.
