Living without water: Mali elephants

Mali, a country in West Africa on the edge of the Sahara desert, is in the middle of a drought. It has not rained here for eight months. Sixteen-year-old Mamadou is battling through a sandstorm. He is on a three day trek in the desert, trying to find water for his cattle. Having reached the only lake with water left, Mamadou is faced by a herd of thirsty African elephants. Mamadou and the elephants are in competition for the same natural resource.
