Asylum seekers

Every year around 30,000 people who arrive in the UK say it’s too dangerous to go back to the country they have come from because of conflict or persecution. They ask for protection and are classed as an asylum seekers, while the government decides whether to believe their story.

We meet Amal, a young girl from Somalia, who came to the UK with her family. We hear her story and see how she and her classmates campaigned for another asylum seeker to be released from a detention centre.
