Give a Woman Wings
Written and sung by Julie Matthews.
Women had many obstacles to overcome to reach the Olympics but Dorothy Manley, an office worker from London, made it to the 1948 finals. She recalls her efforts to beat the great Fanny Blankers-Koen and reveals how it felt to win a medal for her country. Julie Matthews, inspired by Manley’s story, performs Give a Woman Wings to retell the day these two inspiring ladies met on the Olympic tracks.
