British sprinter Harold Abrahams, and his coach Sam Mussabini, spent hours practising how to react to the starting gun in preparation for the 1924 Paris Olympics. This attention to detail paid off; Abrahams got a great start and won gold in a time of 10.6 seconds. He was the first British athlete to win the Olympic 100m.
