The Indigo Kings play original jazzy blues and have a mixture of musicians who live in both Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

Inspired by 1930's jazz clubs, the songs combine irresistible swing rhythms with Chicago style blues and a sprinkling of vintage pop.

They describe their sound as "sweet and saucy harmony vocals meet with gritty lyrics that tell stories of life and love, whilst smooth sax and classic blues guitar are weaved together with jazz piano to create a vintage sound, tinged with modern nuances".

Our next recording session takes place at the Wychwood Festival, on our very own BBC Introducing stage at Cheltenham Racecourse between 8 and 10 June.

We'll be recording four acts for broadcast, as chosen by BBC 6 Music presenter Tom Robinson, The Independent's music editor Elisa Bray and festival organiser Graeme Merrifield.

    Robinson

A Worcester singer/songwriter has been nominated for an Independent Music Award - as Songwriter Of The Year.

Robinson, who we took to the BBC Introducing Musicians' Masterclass earlier this year, received the news after submitting his track Wherever You Are.

One of his childhood inspirations, Tom Waits, was on the panel of judges and Will.I.Am has recently described him as "an awesome talent".

A singer from Worcestershire who's taking part in the BBC1 talent show The Voice has bowled over her judge - quite literally.

Jessie J went in to give teenager Becky Hill, who's from Bewdley, a hug - but Becky managed to knock her coach off her feet - landing on her back.

The footage is due to be screened in this weekends show.
