Giacomo Serpotta was a poor artisan who lived in the area of the city where they traditionally made the statues for religious processions and ceremonies. They also did all the theatrical scenery. This was Serpotta's first commission on a grand scale. The interior is all white and full of small Putti, it's like being inside a cake.
