Gethin Jones helps load up a Chinook Helicopter with supplies for troops in Afghanistan

Remembrance Week celebrates the courage, emotion and sacrifice made by thousands of people from all walks of life and from all over the UK.
Presenter Gethin Jones explores the unheard personal stories of people whose lives have been touched by war, from World War One to recent modern-day conflicts including the Falklands, Northern Ireland, Palestine and Afghanistan.
War veterans, active service men and women as well as stories from civilians and families form the heart of this series.

In the last episode of the series Gethin experiences the might of a Chinook Helicopter as he helps to load it up with supplies. The netted loads are carried underneath the belly of a powerful Chinook. It looks spectacular but it’s not just for show, they can drop the loads without having to land where there’s risk of coming under enemy fire.
