Restoring the Cosmati Pavement
Conservationists have just completed a painstakingly detailed restoration job on the historic, intricately patterned and coloured medieval pavement laid down in 1268 by order of Henry III. The Royal couple William and Kate will stand on the Cosmati pavement before the altar at Westminster Abbey when they get married on 29th April.

GPS tracking 2010 Chilean earthquake
Global Positioning System stations placed all around Chile gave real time data on the movement of the earth during the massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile last year. They showed that not only the land moved 5 metres to the west, but also that different areas moved in different directions and at different times. The slippage at the fault line was not smooth and seemed to hold for a few seconds, before finally giving way and leading to the massive quake.
