UNESCO in Egypt
Recently the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization sent a delegation to Egypt to inspect archaeological and cultural sites following the recent protests there. Harriett talks to UNESCO's Chief of Museums and Cultural Objectives about what they discovered in Egypt, and about the current situation in Libya where there are also significant heritage sites.
The Book of Khalid: Old Novel, New Insights
The so-called Arab Spring coincides with the 100th anniversary of The Book of Khalid by Ameen Rihani. It was the first Arab American novel to be written in English - and many international scholars and diplomats say the origins of current events can be found in its pages. Jane O'Brien reports from Washington as an international campaign gets underway to bring this illuminating work to the attention of American audiences.
Innocent Saturday
Konstantin von Eggert reviews "Innocent Saturday", which has just opened in Russia. Set at the time of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster 25 years ago, the film follows a young party official caught in the aftermath of the tragedy.
